Sri Lankan elephant
In Sri Lanka, there is only one type of elephant, the Sri Lankan elephant (Elephas maximus maximus), which is a subspecies of the Asian elephant. While locals sometimes distinguish between elephants from different regions based on physical characteristics, these are not recognized as separate subspecies or races, according to a YouTube video. The Sri Lankan elephant is the largest of the Asian elephant subspecies.
